Deputy Minister of Education andTraining Tran Quang Quy made the remarks at a meeting in Hanoi on June6 to review the organisation of SEAMEC 47 which took place in Hanoifrom March 19 to 21. The event saw a great number of internationaldelegates who later applauded its outcomes.
Thedeputy education minister further stressed that the success will enhancethe status of Vietnamese education and the country’s relations withforeign nations in the region and the world.
Areport from the meeting showed that SEAMEC 47 witnessed signingceremonies to a wide range of legal documents of the Southeast AsianMinisters of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) relating to the goal oflifelong learning (SEAMEO CELL), such as the establishment of theSEAMEO Centre for Lifelong Learning, adopting a resolution and admittingthe United Kingdom as the eighth associate member of the organisationand launching a project to build the SEAMEO College.
The ministers signed the SEAMEO Statement on Strategic Collaboration towards Regional Development, the report said.
At the meeting, 25 groups and 68 individuals were presentedcertificates of merit for their outstanding contributions to SEAMEC 47.
Established in 1965, SEAMEO has become the largestinternational organisation in Southeast Asia in education, science andcultural cooperation.-VNA
