The news was announced by Pham Van Dong, head of theMinistry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Animal HealthDepartment at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for AvianInfluenza Prevention in Hanoi on June 4.
However, thecommittee warned of high risk of outbreak recurring in the coming time,urging local authorities to continue keeping up supervision andintensifying preventive measures, including strict application ofquarantine regulations and popularisation of information on avianinfluenza.
The ministry informed thatit had prepared 40 million doses of anti-bird-flu vaccines to bedistributed to localities in case of outbreak.
Also at themeeting, the Ministry of Health announced to keep A/H5N1 bird flu onhuman under control. Vietnam has not recorded any case of H7N9infections in human.
In another vein, Ho Chi MinhCity ’s Cho Ray Hospital said on June 4 that a 61-year-old manhad died from A/H1N1 influenza after several days of treatment.
Theill-fated patient, who resided in Dong Thap, was admitted to the DongThap General Hospital on June 1, showing flu-like symptoms such asconstant coughing and breathing difficulty.
He was shortly transferred to Cho Ray Hospital for intensive care, but passed away on June 3.
Testingresults from Cho Ray Hospital and the HCM City PasteurInstitute showed that the patient was positive for A/H1N1.-VNA
